U.K. Dentist Raises the Steaks with Pioneering Mini-Implants

A U.K. dentist is pioneering an ultra-fast, non-surgical tooth implant technique that is set to take the dental world by storm, offering a welcome alternative to the embarrassment of missing teeth, the discomfort of dentures and the complex dental surgery involved in standard implants. Revolutionary new ‘mini implants’ are enabling patients missing their own teeth to successfully tuck into steaks - a feat that would be difficult to achieve with dentures.

Mini implants are inserted in a single visit, taking around 15 minutes each – the time usually taken to pull a tooth out - as opposed to an hour for standard implants. This could revolutionize the dental implant industry, with one-hour walk-in implants making the traditional three- to six-month treatments a thing of the past. The advent of mini implants could profoundly improve the dental sector in the same way that walk-in opticians’ prescriptions had radical effects on optical treatment.

Dr. Tariq Idris, who practices in Harley Street and in Chester as well as lecturing on implantology, says that: “Mini Dental Implants are wonderful news for British dental patients. The technique, patented in the U.S., involves Mini Dental Implants – titanium alloy pegs with ultra-small diameters that are so narrow (about the width of a matchstick) that they can be inserted directly through the gum tissue and into the bone, rather than surgically cutting the gum as with traditional implants. These implants then act as ‘roots’ to which replacement teeth can be attached.

The minimally invasive procedure means that healing is often painless as well as very swift. In addition, costs connected with complex dental surgery in the case of traditional implants are avoided, resulting in more affordable treatment. Due to the small size and less invasive nature of mini implants, replacement teeth can be attached on the same day. Over 20 years of clinical tests in the U.S. have proven the reliable long-term effects of mini implants.
